1. Hub Cafe
250 N 21st St. #3
This place is awesome. The only downside is the hours (closes at 3pm). But if you want a great breakfast or brunch - this is my favorite place in town.

What I order:

1. Smashed Avocado + Preserved Lemon

or

2. Pulled BBQ Oyster Mushroom sandwich minus aioli
or
3. Squash Banh Mi
2. Hiro 88
5730 Hidcote Dr.
Two locations in Lincoln, but we frequent the South location near 56th & Pine Lake.

What I order:

1. AVOCADO CUCUMBER ROLL
2. SPICY GARLIC EDAMAME
3. VEGETABLES WITH TOFU
Stir-fried with garlic soy is not vegan. Ask for snow white sauce without chicken powder instead.
(and I always ask for chili sauce on the side as well!)
3. The Oven
201 N. 8th Street or 4101 Pioneers Dr. #110 68516
The downtown location is hipper, but we typically go east for better parking and it is closer to our house.

For starters I like Papadam with green chile chutney without yogurt (you will have to ask for this)
For meals I love Bombay Dal. This is on the "sides" menu but you can ask for it as a meal. I also get another side of chile chutney to stir into this!
Naan is not vegan but the roti is. The roti is whole wheat so it's better for you anyway!
I typically start with Mulligatawny soup. Other favorites include Aloo Gobi and Palek.

4. Venue
4111 Piorneer Woods Dr. Suite 1000 68506
Venue has a great wine list and a great atmosphere. It's very well run and the staff is fabulous. We always enjoy our meals at the Venue.

The chef has recently added more vegan options. I typically start with a house salad - minus egg and cheese. The only dressing that is vegan is oil and vinegar.

I often order the grilled portebello without cheese but the new Beyond Meatballs is a good change up once in a while.

5. Dish
1100 O Street 68508
The Dish will go out of their way to make sure a vegan is taken care of - and it is a great option/place to take guests from out of town.

Ask your server for starter options that can be made vegan. I like the brussel sprouts, beet chips and roasted baby carrots , but these change often so just ask. For dinner I usually get the Chicken Grain Bowl minus chicken sub in mushroom scallops. But the chef will also offer other options based on what they have available that day.

6. Parthenon
5500 S. 56th Ste. 8 68516
LOVE LOVE LOVE The Parthenon. George is awesome and you will never be disappointed choosing this place for a meal.

Start with hummus and pita. The Greek salad without feta (and dressing on the side) is always yummy and fresh. For main meals, there are vegan friendly menu items such as Roasted Walnut Spaghetti or Sweet Red Peppers over Linguini but you can also make your own pizza without cheese. Order the Rhodes pizza minus dairy.

7. Wilderness Ridge
1800 Wilderness Woods Pl. 68512
We have been going to Wilderness since it first opened. It has seen a lot of changes and many different chefs, but there have been some good changes. The atmospere has stayed the same and it is always a comfortable place to dine.

Currently, the best item on the menu (in my opinion) is the Black Bean burger. Make sure to get it without the bun (the bread is not vegan). They will serve it with a side - I typically get a salad with balsamic dressing on the side. The burger is delicious and filling. They usually top it with avocado and tomato too. Yum!
8. Las Margaritas
2700 Jaime Lane 68516
Can't go wrong with the Veggie Fajitas. To make them awesome and vegan order:
Corn tortillas
No cheese
No sour cream
Black beans
No rice
Add extra guacamole

This meal is enough for two people. Especially with chips and salsa as an appetizer.
9. Asian Fusion
2840 Jamie Lane 68516
Want a super healthy meal? Try the Steamed Tofu and Veggies with brown rice. Make sure to ask for a side of siracha. Between soy sauce and siracha you can skip the sweet brown sauce that they provide on the side.
10. Chef Karim's Place
333 N. Cotner 68505
I hope this place stays open. The service can be hit or miss, but when they are on it is a great experience.

They make good martinis too.

For dinner I order the Vegan platter. It comes with a variety of items but the pumpkin ravioli is delicious.
11. Fireworks
5750 S. 86th 68526
Our youngest son loves this place so we end up here a lot. Luckily there are some good options and I think that Fireworks may have some of the best pizza in town.

Two best options:

1. Veggie Works Pizza minus cheese. This is super flavorful with the peppercinis and onions.
or I order
2. Lettuce wraps (on the app menu) but for dinner. Sub the mushrooms for the steak which is an option on the menu.
12. Yia Yias
1423 O St. 68508
I have been going to Yia Yia's since college. They had a bad write up this past year but I am confident in the ownership and am certain they will right the ship. Love this place before or after Nebraska football games. Awesome beer on tap. Nothing like a pitcher of 10% ABV!

I always, always get a slice of the vegan pizza called the Eastern. You choose the toppings. I usually get it with broccoli, jalapenos and mushrooms. But there are a lot of ingredients to choose from and it comes topped with vegan cheese.
13. Ginger
6055 Apple Way 68516
So my husband and my youngest son aren't fans of the"get your own food" aspect of this place but I love the fresh ingredients and if you sit in the bar you won't have to watch people constantly going through the line.

When I go through the line I get two bowls. One bowl is for veggies the other bowl I fill completely with tofu. There are many vegan sauces to choose from but I like the soy ginger with a side of chile sauce.
14. Momo
7701 Pioneers Blvd 68516
Not a ton of vegan options here but they do have Pine Ridge Chenin Viogner and Seghesio Zin by the glass so there is that....

I typically get the white bean dip with toast points and a salad. You can also get the Margherita Pizza no cheese but be sure to add the marinated mushrooms or it will be kind of blah.
15. Tandoor
3530 Village Dr. 68516
If you want a quick lunch or take out this is a good alternative to the Oven. I always get the Aloo Palek here. But they also have Masoor Dal that is vegan too.
16. Blue Orchid
129 N. 10th 68508
OK. I admit it. My favorite thing about this place is the cocktails. The Lemon Grass Thai Chile martini is wonderful. There are many great options for vegans here but you have to ask for your meal vegan. You can't just order tofu because they use fish sauce in most dishes. I typically get Thai Basil with Tofu veganized.
17. Issara
1701 Pine Lake Road
This place is owned by the same people who own Blue Orchid but it is a different experience. Different menu etc. For starters you can get the Thai Rolls without Chicken or the Lui-Suan Rolls with Tofu. The Suki noodles made vegan are typically what I get for the meal.
18. Piedmont Bistro
1265 S. Cotner 68516
This place is owned by the team who owns The Venue so it is well run and it always has quality food and wine. The brussel sprouts can be made vegan as a starter and for dinner I typically get the Garden Goddess Salad minus the feta and sub herb vinagrette for the Goddess dressing. I get the dressing on the side and this is a great, healthy, filling meal.
19. Art & Soul
5740 Hidecote Drive 68516
See. This is proof that this list is NOT in order of favorites because this is one of my favorite places to eat lunch in Lincoln.

What I get:

My favorite is the salad and sandwich combo. Get the Mediterranian Wrap without Feta and a side salad no cheese with the balsamic dressing on the side...and of course a glass of Sauvignon Blanc.
20. Billy's
1301 H St. 68508
Chef Nadar will always treat you like royalty at Billy's. Tell him you are vegan and he will make an awesome sandwich or pasta dish fresh from his ingredients on hand. They also make an awesome Manhattan.
Fast Food Drive Thru
Quick Vegan Eats in Town
Taco Bell - Beans and tortillas at TB are vegan. Go with the bean burrito no cheese. The onions and hot sauce make this so dang tasty.

Amigos - Amigos also has vegan beans and vegan tortillas. Order the soft pinto burrito no cheese. The homemade salsa is delicious.

Mr. Goodcents - Veggie sandwich no cheese, no mayo on wheat. I get all the fixings with spicy mustard. Love that you can order on-line ahead for a quick pick up or if you order more than $10 worth of food (like we do for our boys) they will deliver!
